Gering Public Schools is seeking a highly effective assistant principal with a track record of success in ensuring equity and access for all students.

The salary range is dependent on education and experience.
Essential Functions and/or District Morale:
Serve as a positive professional role model for students, staff, parents, and the greater community.
Develops and implements plans for interpreting the school program to the community; communicates effectively with the business and residential community; and participates in civic activities.
Conceptualizes the broad goals of the school, providing opportunities for staff participation/collaboration in the development of, and executes plans to ensure that the annual objectives for instructional and extra-curricular programming carry out the total school program.
Ensures that implementation of objectives is compatible with the legal, financial, and organizational structure of the school system.
Relates to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective discipline policy.
Understands the underlying philosophy for the school that matches the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of the students.
Develops master schedules and calendars which maximize the possible achievement of program objectives.
Orients and assists new staff members and new students and provides opportunities for their input into the school program.
Provides activities that facilitate the professional growth of the school staff and enhance the quality of the instructional program.
Screens, selects, directs, and evaluates the performance of certificated and classified staff members.
Defines the responsibilities and accountability of staff members, motivates employee performance, and enhances morale.
Demonstrates a positive attitude toward the job and remains a flexible and innovative team builder.
Supervises and manages site operation to assure safety and efficiency.
Adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
Manages, directs, and maintains records on the materials, supplies, and equipment, which are necessary to carry out the daily school routine.
Visualizes and implements change.
Encourages the use of community resources, cooperates with the community in the use of school facilities, interprets the school program for the community, and maintains communication with community members.
Frequently read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, articles, proposals, contracts, etc, and prepare correspondence, reports, forms, evaluations, etc. using prescribed formats.
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or professional growth activities and university courses.
