9:00-11:30 Bridging Law Enforcement & Education: Addressing Cannabis, Drug Trends, and School Safety

The Nebraska School Safety & Security Conference brings together education

leaders and law enforcement professionals for a focused discussion on key safety issues impacting our schools today. This hybrid event will feature presentations from:

Captain Michael D. Grummert, Capitol Security, Nebraska State Patrol
Captain Martin D. Denton, Carrier Enforcement Division, Nebraska State Patrol
Lieutenant Joe Milos, Bellevue Police Department

Together, they will address critical topics including, medical cannabis and its implications for schools, youth drug and cannabis trends, signs and symptoms of drug influence in students, school safety risks and legal considerations, strengthening school-law enforcement partnerships. Presenters offer valuable insight, real-world experience, and practical strategies to help schools navigate the complex safety and legal landscape.

11:30-Noon 2nd Annual School Safety & Security Award Ceremony

The award is to a person, team, organization, school, first responder(s), or other entity demonstrating their commitment made for school safety. The awardee is “recognized as an engineer in sacrifice for the safety and security of others“. There are a number of ways nominees can demonstrate sacrifice in safety.

We had several great nominations again this year. Thanks again to those who nominated their peers!
