Superintendent - Columbus Public Schools, NE

The Board of Education of the Columbus Public Schools, Columbus, Nebraska, is seeking a highly qualified, fully certified, educational leader to serve as Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position, July 1, 2024.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates.

Location: Columbus is a city in east central Nebraska. It is the county seat of Platte County.

The Qualifications

The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Columbus Board of Education seeks a superintendent that is able to demonstrate:

1. Being a servant leader with successful central office administrative experience and an understanding of Nebraska education that includes school finance, human resources and state governance.

2. Being a visionary and student-centered instructional leader with an understanding of the needs of students in diverse learning environments and the proven ability to lead the district forward PreK-12.

3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a consensus builder by establishing effective relationships with the board, staff and community.

4. The willingness and ability to embrace and lead the Discoverer Way through commitment, honesty, integrity, responsibility, discipline.
