POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (9-12)

I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:
a) Support the principal and other assigned personnel
b) Receive, distribute and communicate information to satisfy school, district and state education policies
c) Maintain a safe school environment
d) Coordinate assigned school site activities
e) Assist students to modify inappropriate behavior & develop successful interpersonal skills
f) Communicate information to staff, principal and public
g) Evaluate certified and classified staff

II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Recruited by: Superintendent and Principal.
Wages: As determined by Board of Education
Paid Vacation: As determined by Negotiated Agreement/Contract.
Paid Holidays: As determined by Negotiated Agreement/Contract.
Sick Leave: As determined by Negotiated Agreement/Contract.
Work Day: Hours to be determined by Superintendent and Principal.
Pay Day: As determined by Negotiated Agreement/Contract.

III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Building Principal
Coordinates with: Building Principal/Activities Director & Assistant Activities Director

IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
a) Shall possess the following:
1) a valid Nebraska Administrative & Supervisory certificate

V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Promotes and implements the curricular and instructional program and recommends revisions as appropriate.
b) Ensures, safety, health and welfare of the students and staff
c) Ensures student achievement
d) Enforces discipline as described in the policy handbook
e) Enforces building and district policies and procedures
f) Supports and implements the district strategic planning initiatives
g) Assures that continuous improvement planning occurs at the building level
h) Leads the staff and students in long and short time goal achievement
i) Selects, develops and evaluates certified and classified staff
j) Serves as the building contact person when substitute teachers are needed
k) Plans and implements a personal/professional growth plan
l) Troubleshoots and brings to closure unanticipated problems
m) Communicates effectively with staff, students, parents and community
n) Develops and promotes positive public relations for the building/district
o) Helps plan and implement the budget
p) Ensures that appropriate and accurate records are maintained
q) Supports the District Administrative Team
r) Participates on the district’s Leadership Team and the secondary Administrative team, as appropriate
s) Complies with all national, state, and local Board of Education policies and regulations
t) Perform other duties as assigned by Building Principal or Superintendent of Schools.

VI. ESTIMATED TIME REQUIREMENTS
a) As needed – average of 2-6 hours beyond regular school day for activity supervision.
b) As needed – average of 2-6 hours of Saturday activity supervision
c) Monthly 1-2 hour meetings with Booster Club
