1:30 p.m. Gateway tp Learning (GTL) Program with Anna Ahrens and Lisa Ryan of Sioux City Community Schools
This presentation will provide an overview of a high school alternative education program that balances intentional student placement with a strong emphasis on college and career readiness. It will outline key components such as personalized learning plans, flexible scheduling, funding of the program, and embedded support systems designed to meet diverse academic and social emotional needs. Attendees will explore strategies for fostering student achievement, increasing engagement, and building a strong culture of belonging.

3:00 p.m. Teachers and Parents as Partners (TAPP) with Amanda Witte, Ph.D. and Susan Sheridan, Ph.D.
students benefit. Beyond traditional, one-way parental involvement activities, parents
and teachers engaged in partnerships work jointly and share responsibility for children’s
success. In this session, we will present information on family-school partnership
foundations, conditions necessary for establishing effective family-school partnerships,
and strategies for building and strengthening family-school partnerships in your schools.
We will also describe a research-based individualized family-school partnership
intervention known as Teachers and Parents as Partners (TAPP) and describe ways
that Nebraska educators can bring it to their schools.
