The South Sioux City Community School District is seeking a superintendent beginning on July 1, 2023, with a salary range expected to be $170,000 to $200,000. South Sioux City is located in Dakota County, Nebraska, along the shores of the Missouri River. It is part of the Sioux City, IA-NE-SD Metro Area and has a population of approximately 14,000. The community offers many recreational biking/walking paths and access to world class golfing including Dakota Dunes and Landmand which are nationally ranked. The South Sioux City Community Schools’ student enrollment is approximately 3,850. Diversity is a strength the district nurtures. The cultural diversity offers real-world experiences that prepare students for a global marketplace. Students take pride in being excellent ambassadors of the school district. The learning environment consists of an early childhood center, five elementary schools (K-5), a middle school (6-8), a high school and an alternative high school (9-12) with approximately 530 employees across the 9 schools.

The Superintendent is supported by a 6 member school board and a highly skilled and experienced cabinet of Directors which includes the Assistant Superintendent, Director of Student Services, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, Director of Human Resources, Director of Business Operations, Director of Maintenance, Director of Communications and Foundation as well as the Technology Coordinator. It boasts tremendous community support and partnerships in career/internship pathways for students through its partnerships with local colleges, businesses, and the educational service unit which creates vast opportunities for graduates. Each year, a family home is built by the SSC HS construction classes giving students the chance to develop trade skills which will allow them to enter directly into high demand, high paying jobs available throughout the Siouxland region.

In addition to the traditional athletic and activity experiences, several other cultural and interest clubs such as robotics and ESports provide extracurricular opportunities for all students. A state of the art athletic complex with turf field, track, interactive sound/lighting and large screen LED Video scoreboard has just been completed. The district size provides students and families with the individual attention of a smaller campus, while also providing a diverse menu of opportunities in the Siouxland metro area when exploring educational options, social activities, housing alternatives, shopping, entertainment, or dining venues. The community is located just over an hour drive North of Omaha on I-29 which provides even greater opportunities for airline choices, shopping, sports and entertainment.

December 12, 2022 - School Board approves contract and announces new Superintendent
July 1, 2023 - Superintendent officially begins with the District
