1:00     Hot Topics in School Law
Steve Williams, Coady Pruett, and Jordan Johnson - KSB School Law
We will talk about some of the more recent developments in school law to entertain and educate session attendees.  What’s the latest on masks?  Can schools really get sued over COVID-19?  What are courts saying about student discipline after Mahanoy v. B.L.?  These topics and more, and we’ll even play “Stump the Idiots” if there is time at the end of the session, so bring your questions!

2:00     Board Meetings, Public Comment, and the First Amendment
Steve Williams, Coady Pruett, and Jordan Johnson - KSB School Law
What may patrons say at a board meeting during public comment?  Do I have to allow patrons to say that (or anything) at a board meeting?  What can I say at a board meeting? What reasonable rules may a board adopt regarding public comment specifically and board meetings generally?  We’ll talk about these and other fun topics that arise when the First Amendment and board meetings collide.

3:00     Adjourn
