Rethinking Equitable and Inclusive Classrooms
Lee Ann Jung, CEO • Lead Inclusion
In this session, Lee Ann challenges the traditional views of general and special education and the resulting identities of educators. Participants actively explore and analyze concepts of school culture and climate for inclusive learning support, roles of everyone in the building to maximize our time and effectiveness, and the misunderstanding of students with disabilities as having “special needs.” Lee Ann presents universal design for learning as a solution to bring greater equity in outcomes for students.

                    NDE and Westat
In building capacity for the scale-up of the MTSS framework and to support districts in an environment of strong local control, Nebraska has required each district to review their student data and establish a Targeted Improvement Plan (TIP). During this presentation, the Office of Special Education in partnership with Westat will help districts understand the targeted improvement plan as a part of the district continuous improvement plan and not a separate process.
