NASES Outstanding New Special Supervisor Award

  • Purpose:  This award recognizes the outstanding service of early career Special Education Supervisors who support their teachers and enable them to go above and beyond for children with disabilities. 
  • Eligibility:  Must be a current member of NCSA/NASES/CASE and in their first five years administering special education programs.  Cannot be a current NASES President, President-Elect, Past-President or 2nd Vice President.  Nominations for members belonging to NASES for more than 5 years may be accepted if the member has recently been promoted to a new supervisory role within Special Education (i.e., Coordinator to Director).  
  • Selection:  Selection is based on (1) Demonstrates Leadership Consistent with CASE Standards, (2) Innovation and Contributions to Special Education and/or Quality of Services to Children with Exceptionalities, (3) Additional Education-Related and/or Community Accomplishments and Recognitions.  Selection of the recipient is made by the NASES Executive Committee.  
  • Submission:  Required submission materials include the NASES Outstanding New Special Education Supervisor of the Year Award Nomination Form, current resume of the nominee, and a minimum of one (maximum of three) letter(s) of recommendation.    
  • Carry-Over:  The applications of those nominees not selected will remain active for one additional year. Carry-over nominees have the option to update or revise their application materials, or to respectfully decline the carry-over nomination, as facilitated by the NCSA liaison. Carry-over candidates must be in their first five years as a supervisor for continued eligibility. 
  • Due Date:  Due December 15th to the NCSA office.  Nomination forms are distributed at the NASES Fall event.    
  • Annoucement:  Recipients will be recognized and presented their award at the NASES Legislative event.  
  • National Award:  Recipients are asked to complete the corresponding CASE nomination for CASE Early Career Special Education Administrator Award.  Deadline for submission is June 1st and recipients will be recognized at the BOD meeting at the CASE Fall Conference.  

NASES Distinguished Special Education Administrator

  • Purpose:  To recognize a NASES member for his/her significant accomplishments and contributions as a SPED Administrator/Supervisor.
  • Eligibility:   Must be a current member of NCSA/NASES/CASE and in the field SpEd Admin. for at least 10 years. Cannot be a current NASES President, President-Elect, Past-President or 2nd Vice President.
  • Selection:  Selection is based on (1) Professional Membership and Activities, (2), Innovation and Contributions to Special Education, (3) Impact on Administrator Preparations and/or Quality of Services to Exceptional Children, and (4) Additional Education-Related and/or Community Accomplishments. Selection of the recipient is made by the NASES Board of Directors.
  • Submission:  Required submission materials include the NASES Distinguished Special Education Administrator Award Nomination Form, current resume of the nominee, and a minimum of one (maximum of three) letter(s) of recommendation.   
  • Carry-Over:  The applications of those nominees not selected will remain active for one additional year. Carry-over nominees have the option to update or revise their application materials, or to respectfully decline the carry-over nomination, as facilitated by the NCSA liaison.
  • Due Date:  Due June 15 to the NCSA office. Nomination forms are distributed at the NASES Spring event.   
  • Annoucement:  Recipients will be recognized at Administrator Days and will be presented their award at the NASES Fall event.
  • National Award: Recipients are asked to complete the corresponding CASE nomination for Outstanding Administrator of Special Education Award or the CASE Distinguished Service Award. Deadline for submission is June 1st and recipients will be recognized at the annual CASE Fall Conference. 

NASES Friend of Special Education Award   

  • Purpose:  To recognize an individual(s), organization or stakeholder for accomplishments, contributions, partnerships and/or other unique efforts which directly impact the betterment of special education, Nebraska’s students, families, and/or school districts/ESUs. 
  • Eligibility:   Any individual(s), organization or stakeholder.  Recipients may or may not be a member of NASES.  
  • Selection:  Selection of the recipient is made by the NASES Executive Committee and is based upon the significant accomplishments, contributions, partnerships and/or other unique efforts to support Special Education in the state of Nebraska.  
  • Submission:  Required submission materials include the NASES Friend of Special Education Award Nomination Form and some form of evidence of special education contributions.  Examples of evidence may include newspaper or journal articles, web articles, and/or photos and videos.     
  • Carry-Over:  The applications of those nominees not selected will remain active for one additional year. Carry-over nominees have the option to update or revise their application materials, or to respectfully decline the carry-over nomination, as facilitated by the NCSA liaison.
  • Due Date:    Due March 1 to the NCSA office.  Nomination forms are distributed at the NASES Legislative event.    
  • Annoucement:  Recipients will be recognized and presented their award at the NASES Spring event.  
  • National Award: Recipients are asked to complete the corresponding CASE nomination for Outstanding Administrator of Special Education Award or the CASE Distinguished Service Award. Deadline for submission is June 1st and recipients will be recognized at the annual CASE Fall Conference.
