Officer Duties

President

  1. Assume office on September 1.
  2. Assume leadership role as President and voting member of Nebraska Association of School Administrators Executive Committee on September 1.
  3. Become a voting member of the Nebraska Council of School Administrators Executive Board on September 1.
  4. Continue to provide leadership for NASA in planning for and carrying out the Fall Convention with NASB. (Chair either NASA luncheon or main session; which ever is the most appropriate). Be available to be seated with NASB leaders at head table at both luncheons during NASB/NASA Fall Convention.
  5. Schedule and chair NASA Executive Committee meetings - usually two - the Wednesday of the NASB/NASA Convention, in conjunction with the Labor Relations Conference; Administrators' Days or as scheduled by the state officers. Conduct an annual NASA business meeting at the Fall Convention. Topics to be discussed - solicited from membership or appropriate because of needs and of the time.
  6. Serve as a delegate to the AASA Delegate Assembly or appoint an alternate with the assistance of the Past President and President-Elect.
  7. Appoint an AASA Liaison and legislative contact person when requested by NASA.
  8. Represent NASA in dealings with NASB and other professional organizations.
  9. Work closely with Regional Executive Committee members in order to solicit input from members, to receive names of members to serve on NASA and NCSA committees, and to effect needed communications.
  10. Disseminate information to all members through Regional Executive Committee members.
  11. Develop a budget for NASA for submission in June of each year to the NCSA Executive Committee. Present to NCSA Executive Board.
  12. Carry out any other duties which are required because of the circumstances at the time.

President-Elect

  1. Assume office on September 1.
  2. Become a voting member of the Nebraska Council of School Administrators Executive Board on September 1.
  3. Become a voting member of the Nebraska Association of School Administrators Executive Board as of September 1.
  4. Serve as Selection Committee Chairperson for selecting any awards for members.
  5. Serve on the Planning Committee for the following year's NASB/NASA Fall Convention. Will chair the Committee in even numbered years.
  6. Attend, if possible, the Spring American Association of School Administrators Leadership Conference.
  7. Preside at any meeting that the President cannot attend and handle such other duties as designated by the President.
  8. Serve as a delegate to the AASA Delegate Assembly or appoint an alternate with the assistance of the Past President and the President.

Past President

  1. Provide orientation to the newly elected NASA President-Elect.
  2. Assist in selecting the NCSA Distinguished Service Award winner(s) with other affiliate Past Presidents.

Secretary

  1. Attend all NASA Executive Committee Meetings and take all minutes.
  2. Prepare minutes for dissemination to Executive Committee Members and the NCSA Executive Director.

NASA Retiree Member

A member of NARSA will serve a three (3) year term on the NASA Executive Committee. Said member to be appointed or selected by the NARSA affiliate of NCSA, will serve as a voting member of the NASA Executive Committee.

Regional Officers

  1. Schedule regional meetings.
  2. Establish agendas for regional meetings and conduct meetings.
  3. Senior Regional Executive Committee Member to serve as Chairperson, second in seniority to serve as Vice-Chairperson, and newest member to serve as Secretary for the regional meetings.
  4. Schedule a meeting of the members in a region prior to February 2 for the purpose of nominating a President-Elect of NASA.
  5. Select the new regional officer for the following school year and notify the NCSA office of this individual by May 1.
  6. Communicate needs of region to state NASA Executive Committee.
  7. Carry out Bylaws, Article IX.
