8:30am - 9:30am        "Leadership Perspectives of the Superintendent"
                                       Mr. Steve Baker, Elkhorn Public Schools
                                       Dr. Kevin Riley, Gretna Public Schools

                                        Successful superintendents, with an outstanding track record of providing progressive and quality leadership for their respective districts, will address superintendent leadership from their perspectives. As a result of their leadership, their peers have honored them with the prestigious "Superintendent of the Year" award.

9:45am - 10:45am       "Marketing Yourself on Paper"
                                          Dr. Eric Weber, Lincoln Public Schools
                                         
This session will help attendees learn proven resume and cover letter techniques in order to allow you to present yourself in a manner that will enhance your application. Samples will be provided.
10:45am - 11:30am     "Financial Knowledge Required of the First Year Superintendent"
                                         Mr. Bryce Wilson and Ms. Jen Utemark, NDE
                                        
Bryce Wilson and Jen Utemark will share their expertise as the NDE Administrator of Finance & Organizational Services and discuss the important fiscal knowledge that a first year superintendent should know, understand, and utilize in the first year as a superintendent.
11:30am - 12:15pm     Lunch
12:15pm - 1:00pm       "Interviewing At Your Best"
                                         Dr. Steve Joel, Lincoln Public Schools
                                        
This session will include information on preparing for the interview. Dr. Joel will focus on topics and themes that will most likely be a part of the interview process. He will provide examples of questions that are used in actual interviews and help you prepare to be at your best!
1:00pm - 1:45pm         "Building Your Legacy from Day One"
                                         Dr. John Mackiel, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
                                        
Dr. John Mackiel will discuss his blueprint for success while leading as a superintendent. His perspectives will help you clearly define your plan of engagement as you enter the superintendency, in the first few years of superintendency and beyond... You will find his insight and advice for aspiring superintendents to be invaluable.
1:45pm - 2:00pm         Break
2:00pm - 3:00pm         "The Superintendent Transition Plan"

                                         Dr. Dan Ernst, NCSA
                                        
Dr. Ernst will review first-year superintendent transition plans and discuss the components of what should be included and why transition plans are important to the new superintendent. In addition, you will learn how to organize your materials in a way that will allow you to best promote your candidacy.
