Are you working to become a school superintendent?  Join us to hear from some of the leaders in our state on steps to take to find the right position and what to expect in your transition.  This one day workshop will help you prepare to become the best superintendent you can be!

8:30     Leadership Perspectives of the Superintendent
Mr. Steve Baker, Elkhorn Public Schools
Dr. Kevin Riley, Gretna Public Schools
Successful superintendents, with an outstanding track record of providing progressive and quality leadership for their respective districts, will address superintendent leadership from their perspectives.  As a result of their leadership, their peers have honored them with the prestigious “Superintendent of the Year” award.

9:45     Marketing Yourself on Paper
Dr. Eric Weber, Lincoln Public Schools
This session will help attendees learn proven resume and cover letter techniques in order to allow you to present yourself in a manner that will enhance your application. Samples will be provided.

10:45   Being Your Best Self
Dr. John Skretta, Norris School District
Norris Superintendent Dr. John Skretta shares strategies and offers practical advice on finding and maintaining balance. He will describe how to master the intensive and stressful demands of the superintendency while honoring personal commitments - to yourself - and as a parent, a spouse, and friend to others.

12:15   Interviewing At Your Best
Dr. Steve Joel, Lincoln Public Schools
This session will include information on preparing for the interview.  Dr. Joel will focus on topics and themes that will most likely be a part of the interview process.  He will provide examples of questions that are used in actual interviews and help you prepare to be at your best!

1:00     Preparing to be the Lead Communicator
Annette Eyman, Papillion-LaVista Public Schools
Though everyone in a school district plays a role in delivering communication, the role of the Superintendent is to provide the foundation and maintain effective systems.  Papillion La Vista Director of CommunicationAnnette Eyman will discuss the importance and challeges of being a lead communicator.

2:00 The Superintendent Transition Plan
Dr. Dan Ernst, NCSA
Dr. Ernst will review first-year superintendent transition plans and discuss the components of what should be included and why transition plans are important to the new superintendent.  In addition, you will learn how to organize your materials in a way that will allow you to best promote your candidacy.
