EHA Wellness Program

Thank you for your interest in the EHA Wellness Program.  As you may know, the program is provided by the Educators Health Alliance, free of charge, to all employees of member organizations.

The program is always optional and voluntary and provides many wonderful opportunities for your employees to improve their health — along with improving morale at your worksite. More than 230 EHA groups are currently participating across the state.  This brochure contains information about what the program includes and how to access all of the exciting benefits of participating.

To be sure you receive upcoming information, please complete a School/Group Participant Information sheet and return it as indicated as soon as possible.  We want to keep you informed about EHA Wellness and get your group involved.

After reading the information below, please contact the EHA Wellness Team at 402-614-0491 or email contact@ehawellness.org if you have any questions or want to get your group started today.

How Much Time Does This Take?

One of the first questions asked in regard to the program is, “How much time does it take?” After three years of the program, most every one of the over 235 Wellness Reps will tell you that it doesn’t take a lot of time and that it’s easy to do.  We require someone to be designated to be the EHA Wellness Rep for your school (if you have multiple buildings, it is helpful to have one in each building) and encourage them to attend a short training session in the fall and one in the spring (they are 2 1/2 hours long).  Additionally, we provide funding for the EHA Wellness Rep to attend the Safety & Wellness Conference in the fall which includes our annual EHA Wellness Rep meeting.  The EHA Wellness Rep promotes the program to your employees and serves as the group’s resource for the program.

How is it Funded?

The EHA Wellness Program is completely funded by the EHA.

Training

Workshops will be held in your area every fall and spring to keep you updated on the EHA Wellness Program and provide you the tools necessary to promote the program at your location.  The training sessions are fun and provide you the opportunity to network with other EHA Wellness Representatives in your area.

Personal Health Assessment (PHA)

Once each calendar year, you and your employees will have the opportunity to participate in the PHA.  The PHA is a survey that will provide you with a full report on your current health status and any areas that you might want to improve.  Your group will also receive an aggregate report which details the health risks for the entire group.  Everyone who participates in the PHA receives a $25 VISA gift card!

Screenings

Thanks to the EHA Board, participating in screenings at your worksite and/or in your community can be a convenient option for your employees.  The EHA provides biometric and vascular screening opportunities for all EHA Subgroups.  Biometric screenings include blood pressure measurement, height, weight and BMI, along with a finger stick blood test to measure cholesterol and glucose levels.  The vascular screenings are provided separately and are done using ultrasound technology to create images of arteries to measure the blood flow through the vessels.  The screenings are being coordinated through the EHA Wellness Program in conjunction with Life Line Screenings.

Bi-Monthly Programs

It can be difficult to get a group together in a school setting to listen to a speaker...so we’ve made it easy. Every other month (October, December, February, April, June and August) you will be able to participate in a fun, online wellness program focusing on a different topic. Incentives are also included with each program and all who complete the program will be entered into a drawing for a gift card. Your group is provided with promotional emails, posters and mailbox stuffers and other resources to encourage employees to participate. We work with Integrated Health and Wellness to bring you these engaging programs which were developed specifically for schools.

The 2014-2015 programs are:

  • October – Soup of the Day
  • December – Unplug and Rewire
  • February – Stop Stress Now
  • April – Iditarod Challenge
  • June – Volunteer for Health
  • August – Weigh Less for Life
